ITINERARY

Day 1 Departing from Montreal
Departing in the morning
Day 2 Arriving in Tokyo
Arriving at Narita airport in the afternoon, you will be met by your local guide for your train ride to your hotel in Tokyo’s livened up district; Shinjuku. You’ll then leave on foot to eat your first sushis in a typical restaurant. Then you take the metro to get to the Shibuya district to see the busiest street corner in the world, the Shibuya crossing. The day ends with a walk through Golden Gai district, a pedestrian area of narrow streets and old Tokyo which miraculously survived urban development. You can spend time in one of the many bars there or go back to your hotel nearby.
Day 3 Tokyo
The day starts with a walk through Shinjuku to the Government Metropolitan Building observatory for an unbeatable view over the city. Then you make your way to Meiji-Jinju’s buddhist temple, a peaceful oasis in the middle of the city. Then ,continue to Harajuku, the unusual fashion area until Omotesando Avenue to see luxury shop. You then get free time shop or window shop in Ginza including Chuo which becomes a pedestrian street on Sunday afternoons. Continue to Asakusa, the best preserved Edo-era architectural heritage. There you’ll see Senso-ji, the oldest buddhist temple in Tokyo. In Akihabara’ electronic area you will visit one of its multi level arcades to drink tea in one of its thematic coffee shops.
Day 4 Tokyo
Leaving early in the morning for Tsukiji market, the biggest fish market in the world. Breakfast then back to the hotel. you have the rest of the day free. Your group leader will give you advices to maximize your day.

Day 5 Tokyo (Option to Mt Fuji)
Free day.  Option to Mt Fuji by coach.
Day 6 Tokyo –Takayama
At 8:00 am get to the train station for the ride to Takayama. This well preserved city is surrounded by mountains. In the afternoon, visit the folk village of Hida, copying a mountain village from the Edo era. There’ you’ll learn about traditional life. Take advantage of free time to walk the old borough and discover art galleries, museums and traditional houses.
Day  7 Takayama – Option to Shirakawago 
Free day. Option to Shirakawago
Day 8 Takayama – Himeji – Hiroshima
Leaving Takayama by train to Hiroshima in the morning with a stopover in Himeji to visit its castle. One of twelve wooden castle in Japan, it was built in 1609 and is part of UNESCO’s World Heritage Sites since 1993. Then, continuing to Hiroshima. Free time in the evening.
Day 9 Hiroshima- Miyajima island- Hiroshima
Visiting the island of Miyajima, located less than one hour from Hiroshima by train and considered to be in the top 3 most beautiful places in Japan. You’ll visit Itsukushima sanctuary and its floating torri as well as the five story pagoda. take advantage of some free time in the afternoon to hike (or use the cable car) Mt. Misen. Many temples, museums and gardens are also found on the island. Leaving the island around 4:30 pm. Free evening.
Day 10 Hiroshima-Kyoto
In the morning, you’ll visit the peace memorial museum with audio-guide. Then, walk in the park and discover the Genbaku dome, the surviving building closest to where the atomic bomb exploded. Then, visit the imperial palace, its gardens and its pagoda. Leaving for Kyoto in the afternoon by train. Free evening.
Day 11 Kyoto
Visit the main temples of Kyoto, starting with Fushimi-inari and its thousands of toriis tagging a trail in the mountain. Then, after sampling Japanese street food, you’ll go Sanjusangen-do temple to discover the hall and its 1001 buddist statues. Walk the streets of the Higashiyama area until you reach Kiyomizu-Dera temple, famous for its suspended platform in themountain offering a superb view of the city. After some time to shop, walk to the traditional area of Gion. You might even see real geishas. Free evening.
Day 12 Kyoto
Spend the day in the Arashiyama borough: Walk the famous bamboo forest and see monkeys in Iwatayama park. Then, take advantage of free time to discover the many cafes, shops and temples. Leaving Arashiyama at the end of the afternoon to visit the Golden pavilion. Free evening.
Day 13 Kyoto
Freee time all day. You can take the train to Osaka – a 30-minute ride from Kyoto.
Day 14 Kyoto – Tokyo – Montréal
Leaving at 10:30am in train to Haneda Airport, Tokyo.
