Day 1

Departing from Montreal to Delhi via Doha

Day 2

Stopover in Doha and flight to Delhi

You will be met upon arrival and then you will transfer to the hotel for check-in.

Day  3

Delhi

Breakfast at the hotel and visit of the Jama Masjid, the biggest mosque in the country. From the south minaret, you will have thebest view possible over the city. Then, visit of Raj Ghat and Gandhi’s Museum. The black marble plate marks the spot Mahatma Ghandi was incinerated following his assassination in 1948.

Lunch in a loca lrestaurant. In the afternoon you’ll discover New Delhi and its surrounding areas. Visit of Humayun’s Tomb built in the middle of the 16th century by Haji Begum, Humayun’s first wife. Humayun was the second Moghol Emperor. it is a great example of Moghol architecture that inspired the Taj Mahal.

Dinner and back to the hotel.

Day 4

Delhi / Ajmer (train 6h05 / 12h45) / Pushkar (25 km / 1h)

Breakfast at the hotel and transferring to the train station for your ride to Ajmer (Pushkar). You will be met upon arrival and you’ll transfer to Pushkar.

Pushkar is located on the shores of a small lake, next to a desert. It’s an important pilgrimage place for Hindus – numerous ghâts and temples can be seen- and an important cattle trade post. Every year, in October and November, a famous camel fair can be seen.

Visit of the Pushkar Fair and exclusive prayer time with a priest.

 

Dinner and night in a camp.

Day 5

Pushkar / Udaipur (274 km / 6h)

Breakfast at the hotel and departing for Udaipur. This city is characterized by its narrow streets, whitewashed houses with tiny balconies and windows. Checking in at the hotel.

Lunch. In the afternoon, cruise on lake Pichola to admire the palace’s magnificent facade. Stopping on Jag Mandir island.

 

Dinner and back to the hotel.

Day 6

Udaipur 

Breakfast at the hotel and visit of the City Palace, Udaipur’s Mahajanas old palace. Built in the 18th century, this palace overlooks Pichola lake and is still used as a residence by the Mahajanas descendants. It is a maze of marbled halls, lounges, courtyards and gardens. Visit of the Sahelion Ki Bari or Young Ladies Gardens, a magnificent park with many fountains.

Lunch and visit of a Centre of silk paintings, specialized in miniatures.

Free time in the afternoon.

Dinner and back to the hotel.

Day 7

Udaipur / Ranakpur / Jodhpur (270 km / 6H30)

Breakfast at the hotel and departing for Ranakpur on roads lined with acacias. You will see norias, pumped wells and women transporting gold and silver jugs on their heads. Lunch.

In the afternoon, you will dicover the Great Jaïn Temples hidden in the Aravelli mountains. A mesmering charm comes from this solitary place, a great example of the finest jaïn sanctuaries.

Continuing to Johdpur and checking in the hotel.

Dinner and back to the hotel.

Day 8

Jodhpur / Bikaner (280 km / 4h30)

Breakfast at the hotel. Visit of superb Fort Mehrangarh an eagle nest built at the top of the hill, overlooking the city. Seven doors give access, some of them still showing traces of cannonballs. Inside you will see many courtyards, surrounded by palaces.

The fort’s museum contains palanquins, elephant pods, weapins, sabres, swords, daggers and small artillery. Many rooms contain miniatures, the Takhat Mahal room is entirely decorated with mirrors and paintings with glass balls attached to the ceiling ans the Jankhi Mahal contains an impressing collection of royal cribs.

From the ramparts, a magnificent view of the blue city awaits and, further out Umaid Bhawan palace.

Lunch. Continuing to Bikaner and check in at the hotel upon arrival.

Dinner and back to the hotel.

Day 9

Bikaner / Mandawa (260 km / 4h)

Breakfast at the hotel. Visit of Fort Junnagarh, a fortress built in the 16th century and housing palaces and temples. It’s a maze of halls, stairs and  inner courtyards. You’ll visit the Hall of CrowningPalace of Mirrors, theMaharadjah’s room, the Weapons Museum also featuring elephant pods, the Conference Hall with its silver throne and the first fakir nail planks.

Then a tuk tuk ride in the bazaar awaits you followed by a walk at theHeritage Walk in the old city to explore its alleys and discover old havelis.

Lunch, then back on the road to Shekhawati region, nicknamed the open air art gallery of Rajasthan.

Arriving at the hotel and check in. Dinner and back to the hotel.

Day 10

Mandawa / Jaipur (170 km / 3h30)

Breakfast at the hotel and departing for a visit of Mandawa. In this city surrounded by sand dunes, you will find havelis – houses of rich merchants who lived from camel trade between India and Pakistan.

Lunch. Continuing to Jaipur. Rajasthan’s capital got its nickname of « Pink City » from the pink paint used on buildings in the old city. Built on a dried up lake, the city is surrounded by dry landscapes, naked hills and a fortress.

Day 11

Jaipur

Breakfast at the hotel and touring Amber Fort, about 10 km from Jaipur. Amber is the former capital of the state, founded by the Minas and abandonned a few centuries later when maharadjah Jai Singh went to Jaipur to live. Located at the start of a rocky gorge overlooking a beautiful lake, the strategic location of this fortress only adds to the beauty of its architecture. This maze of towers from hill to hill used to be part of an alert and defence system. Nothing has changed from centuries ago.

Going up the fort’s ramparts on elephant’s back or by using 4×4 vehicules. The inside of the fort contains many arched courtyards and beautiful gardens overrun by monkeys. The palace’s walls are made of Persian style mosaics with doors adorned with ivory and wood. Visit of the palace’s rooms with its mirrors and the temple dedicated to the goddess Kali. Rajpouts took over the fort in 1037 and kept it until 1728 when they left Amber for Jaipur. Lunch in a local restaurant and visit of the city:

  • City Palace, the Maharajah’s palace. Part of it is still inhabited by the maharadjah and contains Moghols miniatures.
  • Hawa Mahal also knowned as the Wind Palace. An extraordinary wall section comes from an old baroque style palace.
  • Rickshaw ride (pousse-pousse) and discovery of Jaipur’s market.

Free time and back to the hotel.

Day 12

Jaipur / Ranthambore (155 km / 3h30)

Breakfast at the hotel and departing to Ranthambore.

Ranthambore is famous for its national park (1.334 km2) where sanctuaries can be found – Sanctuary and Mansingh Kaila Devi Sanctuary. Knowned for its tigers, the park is the best place in India to see tigers in their natural habitat.

In the afternoon, Jeep or Canter safari in Ranthambore National Park.

Day 14

Ranthambore / Fatehpur Sikri / Agra (258 km / 5h30)

Breakfast at the hotel. Departing to Jaipur and visit of Fatehpur Sikri on the way. Fatehpur Sikri in the former capital from moghol emperor Akbar’s era. It was abandoned a few years after it was built and the architecture is a mix of Hindu and Indo-muslim on a spectacular site.

Visit of The Great Mosque and Sheikh Salim Chishti’s tomb. Jewel House also knowned as Diwan-I-Khas (Audiences Hall) houses Akbar’s Pillar, the giant chessboard.

Lunch in a local restaurant and continuing to Agra. Checking in at the hotel on arrival.

In the evening, visit of the Taj Mahal (closed on Friday) built in the 17th century by Emperor Shah Jahan to illustrate his undying love. In 1631, Shah Jahan lost his favorite wife Mumtaz-i-Mahal  while giving birth to their 14th child.

Transfering to the entrance by carriage, you will see an enormous door of red sandstone covered with verses from the Coran in Arabic.

Dinner and back to the hotel.

Day 15

Agra / Delhi (200 km / 4h) Delhi / Varanasi (Vol 16h20 / 17h40)

Breakfast at the hotel. Visit of the Red Fort: formerly a military installation it was later partially transformed into a palace. Visit of Saman Burj: From the top of this tower you can see the Taj Mahal and behind its walls it’s a city inside a city that awaits.

Departing to Delhi.

Lunch in a local restaurant.

Checking in at the hotel upon arrival in Delhi.

Transfering to the airport in the evening for your flight to Varanasi. You will be met on arrival.

Dinner and back at the hotel.

Day 16

Varanasi   

Transfering to the pier at sunrise for a boat ride on the Gange where thousands of pilgrims purifiy themselves in the sacred waters.

Then, we’ll walk in the narrow streets to the Golden Temple, main temple dedicated to Shiva.

City tour of Varanasi: Tulsi Manas Temple, Durga Temple and Bharat Mata Temple then back to the hotel for breakfast.

Visit of Sarnath, craddle of buddhist teachings. This is where Buddha gave his first sermon in 528 before Christ. The museum houses great depictions of Buddha, Emperor Ashoka’s column marquee and many statues. You’ll visit the museum and theBuddhist temple.

Lunch.

At the end of the afternoon: Rickshaw ride on the ghâts at the time of Puja where the priests pray in frontof the Gange river and bless the pilgrims.

Dinner and back to the hotel.

Day 17

Varanasi / Delhi  (vol 10H20/12H25) Delhi / Amritsar (vol 16h55/18h)

Breakfast at the hotel and  transfering to the airport for your flight to Delhi and Amritsar.

Lunch.

You will be met upon arrival then, transfering to the hotel.

Dinner and back to the hotel.

Day 18

Amritsar 

Breakfast at the hotel. In the morning, visit of the Golden Temple and walking in the colorful market of Amritsar. Then, a city tour of Amritsar (Jallianwala Bagh, Durgiana Temple).

Lunch. Visit of Wagha Border for a traditional ceremony.

In the evening, we’ll visit the Golden Temple and see another ceremony.

Dinner and back to the hotel.

Amritsar / Montreal
